September Events! Sat 15th / Sat 22nd

Saturday 15th September: get ready for another hilarious night as Vancouver group The Radical make a return visit to The Sunnybrae Community Hall, for an evening of completely improvised comedy. For those of you who missed the packed-out show in June, The Radical specialize in audience directed comedy, so expect a lot of crowd participation, unforeseen entertainment and high energy laughs! June was actually my first live, improv Comedy show I’d been to and I really do recommend the experience!

Once again this is a collaboration between the Arts Council For The South Shuswap and the Sunnybrae Community Association. There will be a licensed cash-bar (sorry, no minors at this event) serving beer, local wine from Sunnybrae Vineyards & Winery and some coffee & snacks on the side. Contact 250 515 3276 in advance to organize a Safe Ride Home. Doors are at 6:30pm with a kick-off time of 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 at the door, or available in advance online. Check out the events section of our Facebook page at “Sunnybrae Community Association” for more details.

The following week welcomes some of the Shuswap Community’s most beloved friends back to the Sunnybrae Community Hall. On Saturday 22nd September, A Million Dollars in Pennies and Sons of Bitumen hit the stage for a double-bill concert of outstanding live folk music. Mike & Steph Shaver promise to visit from Vancouver with a “whole whack of new songs…”. Mike & Steph’s performances never fall short of captivating, with beautifully written songs that really bring you with them into their stories, moving you in all directions from start to finish, and always delivered through stellar vocal harmonies and musicianship.

Joining them will be Sons of Bitumen, who last visited us earlier in the year for the Shuswap Culture Crawl. With his Dobro and a stack of whole-hearted originals, Sam will be joining us from beautiful Hope, BC. Accompanied on guitar by one of the Shuswap’s heavy hitters Jake Verburg, this brotherly duo dwell deep in the depths of both acoustic and electric sound. Whatever they may choose this time round, you can count on it being a bold, moving and exceptional performance.

Last to mention but definitely not least, Salmon Arm’s Jake McIntrye-Paul will be making an appearance as special guest for the night, supporting on bass. Both Jake’s have been enjoying some summer gigs together in various bands and we are truly excited to welcome this exceptional musician to the stage at what I believe to be his Sunnybrae Community Hall debut! Admission for this concert is $20, available at Acorn Music, Shuswap Pie Co, Hudson Vintage and at the doors, which open at 6:30pm, show beginning 7:30pm.

As always we have all our information up on our website: www.sunnybraecommunityassociation.com and our Facebook Page: “Sunnybrae Community Association”.

As the temperatures begin to drop and swimming becomes less of an appealing idea, here comes some perfect opportunities to welcome us all back indoors and into another great season of live, community entertainment!
